INDEPENDENCE, Inyo County — Residents searching for the main Inyo County Free Library may be surprised to find it inside the county courthouse, rather than in a separate building.

The official county branch directory places the Independence Central Library on the ground level of the courthouse at 168 North Edwards Street, Independence, CA 93526. Its published opening schedule is Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., with phone number 760-878-0260.
